This line by the Terminator, as played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, is the best sales pitch of all time.

Why? Well, let’s look at it!

He’s making a request for something very important to the person he’s saying it to.

That person, Sarah Connor (played by Linda Hamilton), is being chased by a killer shape-shifting robot. Then it also looks like Arnold is after her as well!

She doesn’t yet know that Arnold is now the good robot – and she’s terrified. Then her son John Connor says, “It’s OK, Mom, he’s here to help!”

So, she grabs his hand and they escape to safety.

If only you could have such a good pitch line! If you did, everyone you said it to would follow you.

Well, not everyone, but a whole lot of people who are not following you now!

Let’s translate this into a business marketing context.

“Come with me if you want to attract more high-end clients.”

“Come with me if you want to be a great leader.”

“Come with me if you want to transform your organization.”

“Come with me if you want to increase your profits.”

You get the idea. Those ultimate outcomes are equivalent to “…if you want to live.”

They are very beneficial things your clients want.

However, the context is a little different. They aren’t running down the hall in a mental institution fleeing from a killer robot!

So, even though the ultimate outcome is not so urgent, it’s still very important.

So, you wouldn’t say, “Come with me…”

Instead, you’d say something like…

“Let me show you something if you want X.”

But, before you do that, you need to have the equivalent power and ability of a T-800 robot.

That means you have the skills, the ability, the experience, and the track record that ensure you can get that ultimate outcome for your clients.

You know you can help them – just like Arnold can.

And you have a program or service that is designed to deliver that outcome.

So, when you have all that in place, you can do something most self-employed professionals can’t do:

When you recognize that a prospective client you are speaking to needs exactly what you have…

You don’t hesitate. You just say it:

“Let me show you something that will really help you be a great leader (or whatever your X is).”

And they’ll say, “What is it?”

And you’ll say, “Let me show you! Have you got half an hour?”

And they are going to say, “OK, sure, show it to me. Show me what you’ve got.”

And that’s when you set up a time to present to them exactly how you can help them be a great leader.

None, if this is really difficult.

You just need to have all these pieces in place:

1. A service or program that utilizes your expertise to produce a powerful result your clients want.

2. People to talk to who need that result and are open to learning about how you can help them get it.

3. An invitation to explore your solution (Let me show you…).

4. A clear presentation that makes a powerful case for your solution – what they will get and how it works.

Do you have those four things in place?

If you do, great! If not, you’re not going to be able to save people from a terrible fate like Arnold does.

And that would be a real shame!

Cheers, Robert

P.S. My intensive program, the Marketing Action Group, helps you master those four things so you attract more high-end clients. The next one starts in the spring of 2021. And in January, I’ll ask if you’d like me to show it to you.
