An Ordinary Visionary is someone who generates creative ideas and consistently puts them into action and into the world.

They recognize possibilities or opportunities that others often overlook, fueled by enthusiasm to take risks and bring their ideas to life.

Are you an Ordinary Visionary?

You possess a unique lens through which you view the world. You’re constantly pondering, “What if…? Hmm, that might work! I know, I’ll try that.”

The lightbulb switches on and your ideas, whether you’re a businessperson, writer, or artist, might take time to crystallize, but once they do, you spring into action.

Everyone has good ideas, yet not everyone acts on them.

What sets Ordinary Visionaries apart is their willingness to turn ideas into reality.

They commit the time and effort required to see their visions through, whether it’s a business concept, a scientific theory, an article, a book, a painting, a recipe, a song, or a software program.

Ordinary Visionaries are, above all, persistent. They return to the drawing board over and over again. They fight perfectionism and simply do the best they can.

I call these kinds of visionaries ordinary because everyone has the capacity to do great things.

Do you possess some or all of these traits?

– A profound sense of purpose, driven by a desire to make a genuine difference rather than seeking fame or immediate success.

– Persistence in pursuing your visions, channeling creativity, hard work, and dedication despite initial setbacks or lack of external validation.

– Not always showered with immediate recognition or validation for your insights, or even financial success.

– A journey marked by resilience, dedication, and an unwavering pursuit of your vision in the face of adversity.

– Viewing failures as stepping stones, and setbacks as opportunities for growth, leveraging these experiences to refine your vision and approach.

If so, you are already an Ordinary Visionary!

But wait. If that describes Ordinary Visionaries, how about Extraordinary Visionaries?

An Extraordinary Visionary conceives and successfully executes significant, groundbreaking ideas and initiatives over a lifetime. It’s a matter of scale.

All Extraordinary Visionaries started as Ordinary Visionaries.

Then, depending on talent, character, timing, hard work, and lucky breaks, some evolved into Extraordinary Visionaries.

We’re familiar with Extraordinary Visionaries like Steve Jobs, J.K. Rowling, Oprah Winfrey, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Sam Harris, Steven Spielberg, Jimmy Kimmel, Malala Yousafzai, Rachel Maddow, Joe Rogan, and Taylor Swift.

Yet, for every Extraordinary Visionary, there exist thousands of Ordinary Visionaries. People just like you.

The thing to remember is that Ordinary Visionaries aren’t under-performers; they are the solid bedrock of our civilization.

Ordinary Visionaries collectively contribute greatly to society. Their individual creative actions cause a ripple effect, and these seemingly small contributions create substantial impacts over time.

There is no shame in not attaining Extraordinary Visionary status; even most of them think of themselves simply as Ordinary Visionaries.

So, give yourself some credit instead of devaluing yourself. Acknowledge and celebrate your achievements rather than solely focusing on what you have yet to achieve or comparing yourself to others.

Even though becoming an Extraordinary Visionary might be out of your reach, being an Ordinary Visionary is well within your grasp, if not already a reality.

Let’s celebrate being Ordinary Visionaries. Let’s tune in to our visions, take action, and do our best with our existing capabilities to make a tangible difference through our work in our communities and the world.

So, now tell me, are you an Ordinary Visionary?

If you’re reading this, I think there’s a very good possibility that you are!

Cheers, Robert
